HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is a nationally recognised unit that describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This course applies to individuals who may be required to provide CPR in a range of community and workplace settings.

Overview

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is a nationally recognised unit that describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This course applies to individuals who may be required to provide CPR in a range of workplace and community settings.

Training includes both theoretical and practical components designed to develop the skills and confidence required to respond to emergency situations.

Topics include:
  • Responding to an emergency situation
  • Performing CPR on adults, children, and infants
  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Infection control considerations
  • Communicating incident details to emergency services
  • Post-incident reporting procedures

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this unit of competency.

Participants must be physically capable of performing CPR on a manikin placed on the floor as part of the practical assessment requirements

Renewal Requirements

The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommends that CPR skills are refreshed annually.
